Giving Birth

Giving birth

the hardest thing to do.

I don’t want to hear it —

“the newborn stage,

the teenager phase,

the terrible twos

or threenager days.”

Being a whale,

walking like a penguin,

and then birthing a seal —

honestly, it’s been

both the most terrible experience

and my greatest brag.

I’ve asked ChatGPT,

and it told me:

I could’ve died the first time.

I probably would’ve died the second.

And in my mind

I’ve stabbed myself

plenty of times.

So save it

for the women who love pain,

and the marines

who go to war.

Good for you.

But don’t deny

it’s the hardest thing

we can do —

and we did it.

So salute your fellow mother:

she fought and won

the greatest battle.

Oo-rah.
