I am an Ocean

My partner came to me

Like a river finds the sea 

But my children came to me

Like a tidal wave to an unmoored fishing boat

Suddenly

Violently

Completely collapsed me

And I sank

Sank

Sank

Until I hit the ocean floor

There I froze

Cold and lonely

One day

I felt a pull A second tsunami was coming

The waves slid back

Moonlit currents dragging me 

Rebuilding me

No wonder the ocean is a woman

Only she could be so tender

And in another  

a tempest. 

I dream my favorite dream

I'm floating in the ocean

From wonder to panic

I feel I will drown

Somehow I believe I could breathe

So I inhale.
