Skin of a Seal

I pushed and pushed
A scream that echoed
to the depths of the ocean
hand in my partner’s hand
I felt a slither
schloop
and something warm
wet
heavy
flopped upon my chest
A baby seal
Two big dark eyes gazing
into my squinty human ones
Wondering: how the hell
do I take care of a baby seal?
So down I went to the deserted beach
and called out to my wise mother
moon goddess divine
heal me,
bring me my seal skin back
the one I once shed for love
It floated slowly towards me
wave after wave
my awkward angled limbs
barely fit into my new coat
but I did it
and funny enough
my baby seal sprouted legs
and started to run
