My first project in Africa — a lobby redesign for a banking firm in Maputo, Mozambique. The goal was to create a modern, high-end arrival experience, optimizing the flow for guests waiting and employees using keycard access. I sourced furniture and materials, and worked on adapting wayfinding elements.

It was strange and fascinating to see how global design sometimes flattens cultural identity — this lobby could have easily been in New York. Still, it was a valuable project in understanding how large-scale corporate design operates and how subtle choices can either preserve or erase a sense of place. We kept a fun local detail with the patterns in the brass room dividers.
