Shipping Container Capsule // Pratt

Date

Project type
Restaurant + Hotel + Gallery (School Work)
Inspired by my background in hospitality and my time as a diner, I wanted to explore the tension between service and anonymity — how technology has begun to replace human interaction, and what that means for our emotional connection to service. What does it feel like when everything functions perfectly, yet no one is really there?
I designed a modular concept housed within shipping containers that combined a capsule hotel, a restaurant with a pneumatic food delivery system, and a digital gallery. The project examined how architecture and technology could shape new types of human (or post-human) interaction — spaces where service is performed, but the people behind it remain unseen.
The project deepened my understanding of spatial storytelling and experiential design. It reminded me that hospitality is as much about feeling cared for as it is about efficiency — and that good design can ask important questions, not just answer them.
